I'm starting a food blog!

For quite some time now I've been considering having a blog of my own, but in all honesty I didn't want to become one of "those people". But here I am anyway...I really love to cook & I love to eat even more so I am starting a food blog. While I do hope to have readers & those who will follow my postings, the real purpose is to have a creative outlet for my culinary adventures. I am not a trained chef or a professional photographer, and I have never claimed to be a great writer, but I hope to share my cooking (and eating) experiences here. I'm excited you are here reading this & I hope you'll be back to check out future posts. In the meantime here are some food related facts to get to know me better!

1) I LOVE ketchup. In fact, I'm pretty obsessed with most condiments, but that giant bottle of Heinz is my favorite thing in my fridge. And yes, it has to be Heinz. All the others are dirty impostors.

2) Bananas = gross. They're my least favorite food by far. Their smell, texture, taste, all of it is just nasty.

3) Everyone's grandma is the best cook, but mine really is. My Mema's food was always my favorite growing up, and while she doesn't cook much anymore she still has some of the best mashed potatoes & Thanksgiving dressing I've ever had.

4) My most treasured piece of kitchen equipment is my cast iron skillet given to me by my Mema. Sometimes I think about all the yummy things she's made in it & hope some of it's magic is passed along to me.

5) Coffee making is not my forte. Unless it's a Keurig cup that pot of coffee is going to be all sorts of wrong.

6) I could eat Chik-fil-a every day. (Or alternate it with Barberitos)

7) The most meaningful meal I've ever made was Julia Child's boeuf bourguignon. I felt like I paid homage to her by using her exact recipe. It was the first thing I cooked using my dutch oven & of course it was supremely delicious.

8) Pizza boxes always get the best of me. It's like I can never get them to close correctly. I'm outsmarted every time.

9) Culinary TV shows I watch: Good Eats, Top Chef, America's Test Kitchen, Pioneer Woman, Master Chef, The Great British Bake Off, Iron Chef America

10) My "last meal" would consist of fried chicken & mashed potatoes, roasted asparagus, lasagna, sushi, dark chocolate covered strawberries and key lime pie.
